Oxford Brookes Students' Union: Campaigns
Oxford Brookes Students' Union spends a lot of time talking to students, either through the system of reps, out and about on campus, through the Advice Centre, or on social networks. When we pick up on an issue that needs addressing, we pull together a campaign, to look into it further, or to raise awareness and gather support among the student body, or to bring it to the attention of the University.
Our 'Funding our Future' campaign last year included taking coach loads of students to London, to demonstrate about rising fees. It also concluded i a report, which was very well received by the University and which fed in to their decision making around how to support students in this changing financial climate.
At the end of the first semester of every academic year, our 'All I Want for Christmas' campaign sees us out and about on campus, asking students what's great and what's not so great about their student experience. We report all this back to the University and receive back a plan of action about how they are going to address the not so good bits.
This first of this year’s campaigns will see us working with the University’s Disabilities Services to consult students about their experiences with the service.
